Lake District

Derwent Gold

Derwent Water in the Lake District has to be one of my favourite locations for photography. I just love the quiet, peaceful dawn shoots here. With good conditions, perfect reflections appear, and with even better fortune a touch of low lying mist. The atmosphere and views are just stunning.

This shot was taken early on a late September morning. The sky did not look promising after another pre-dawn arrival. Just as I was thinking, oh well, maybe another day, this golden glow appeared and lasted just a handful of minutes.

I managed to get a handful of photographs before the colours disappeared.
