The Heart of England
Stiperstones
This is one of Shropshire's secrets. Stiperstones is a rocky point south west of Shrewsbury. The beautiful 'Secret' Shropshire hills are part of the stunning scenery around this part of the Midlands and have been compared to a 'mini Switzerland'. The centre of this area is The Long Mynd near Church Stretton.
Back to Stiperstones. This area is covered in fabulous purple heather in late summer and is worthy of a trip to see just that. The fact it covers an area which contains quartz in the rocks and with magnificent views to match is just icing on the cake.
The heather was even part of a local scheme called "back to purple" which aimed to actively encourage its ressurgence in the area.
To have such a beautiful place close to home is good for any Landscape Photographer.
